SahmAdrangi: Founder and CEO of Kerrisdale Capital Management

SahmAdrangi is founder and CIO of Kerrisdale Capital Management. He founded the company in 2009 with about $1 million in assets. By the middle of 2017, that amount had risen to over $150 million. SahmAdrangi has played a role in every aspect of the company’s development. He has become known for his in-depth research and short selling. Adrangi believes the market doesn’t understand overhyped shorts and under-followed longs and he uses Kerrisdale’s research to correct the misconceptions that are broadly held about the fundamental business prospects of those companies.

Many people gain access to the results of research done by Kerrisdale Capital Management on Twitter, third-party investing-related sites and the company’s website. Many others began paying attention to SahmAdrangi in 2010 and 2011 when he exposed a number of fraudulent Chinese companies. A graduate of Yale University with a bachelor’s degree in economics, SahmAdrangi began his professional career in financial services with Deutsche Bank. He specialized in leveraged loan debt financing. He also advised creditor committees involved in out-of-court restructuring situations and bankruptcy at Chanin Capital Partners. Adrangi then worked for several years with Longacre Management a distressed debt hedge fund with assets valued at several billion dollars. Through Kerrisdale Capital Management SahmAdrangi has focused his research and attention on the biotechnology, mining and telecommunications sectors.

These days SahmAdrangi has become a popular speaker at financial industry conferences. He has done presentations at the Value Investing conferences, the Sohn Conference, the Activist Investor Conference, the Distressed Debt Investing Conference, Traders 4 a Cause and many others. Adrangi has also been interviewed and made presentations on Bloomberg and CNBC. His work and his story has been talked about in a number of well-respected major publications. They include the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, the Washington Post and countless others.
